Like a Box of Positives pt. II
What makes the biggest impact on me emotionally...is how things change over time. Like if I run into something that reminds me about the past, it makes me feel great. Stories that span through eras and reading about how far the characters have gone are the ones that stick in my head. I'm getting older now, and pretty soon I'll be forgetting a lot of great times. I have already forgotten a few, but when reading through this blog in the future, I hope I'll remember some of the things that got me where I am. No matter where I end up, I want to be able to go back to this entry and remember that I had a lot of great things happen in my life.
- When Belle went with me to the Save Ferris concert.
- All those summers I spent with my cousins from up north. The best one was when we stayed in Vallejo for a month and our relatives from Canada came over. I remember crying when those summer ended and everyone went home.
- When me and my brother were little kids in Carson.
- Those weekends when Robert would come over while my dad and his dad would play tennis and hang out. The funniest was when we were lip-synching to Hi-Five. Too bad I don't have that footage for my wedding slideshow.
- All of our Pat and Pong camping trips and parties.
- Moving into Cerritos and going outside to play with Neil, Nisha, Roger, Michael (RIP), Eldrid, and Nicole. There were a lot of fun kids in that neighborhood...we would have those fun block vs. block competitions, playing basketball or football at the park, stealing stuff from the liquor store, burning everything, riding our bikes around everywhere, etc.
- Playing basketball. I loved basketball so much back then, especially in Jr. High.
- Looking at old photos albums whenever I was down.
- Everything I did with my breakdancing crew (Visual Funkadelik Movement) and all of the other crews we hung out with. I almost died twice and for some reason I was known as that breakdancing guy among my orange county friends.
- All of the high school dances I went to.
- AP Biology with Mr. Seko. The most fun I've ever had in a class. A close second was when I took Spanish at LBCC in the summer.
- Our tennis team. Sure, we weren't that good but all the good times we had were so fun. I was team captain, and I hope karma took care of whoever stole my racket.
- Chasing girls with the Jodeci guys (Ian, Mariano, John). I never caught a girl myself, because she was waiting for me at UCI.
- Being on the phone with Sandy.
- Final Fantasy IV, VI, VII, Chrono Trigger, Metal Gear Solid, Resident Evil, etc.
- Bahia. That was one of the hardest things in my life to let go. Life was so great there that I still miss it dearly to this day.
- Watching Rocky IV and working out.
- The Iron Bark parties. I only went to a few but the few that I did go to are probably what I'll be telling my kids what our parties were like back then.
- Those times I spent driving in the car and I get lost in the music.
- Coming home to my parents and lola every weekend at UCI. I love my family.
- My last year of PCN. I had such a huge crush on Belle that when we finally got together I felt like I had everything I could ever want.
- The year I went bodyboarding all summer and snowboarding all winter.
- All of our MLK snowboarding trips. I look forward to it every single year.
- That time I planned out a camping trip at Silver Lake and it turned out well. I think that was the last big time we were all together.
- All the traveling me and Belle did together, and the friends that went with us (Ryan, Joemama, Jeff, Sherwin, Cat).
- When we finally got the house.
- Watching my brother graduate from UCSD. Then when he graduated from LBPD. I'm so proud of him.
- Training for the LA Triathlon and all the other runs. It's the journey, not the destination.
- All of the weddings we attended this year.
- My 28th birthday.
- Heroes nights and just hanging out with the Ternberry crew.
- When she said yes.
I feel like I'm missing so much...
